January 11, 2023

Greetings, St. Anne Schools Families,

I want to start by thanking all of you for your flexibility and understanding as we were faced with an unexpected water main break in St. Anne today.

I was notified around 12:35 p.m. of the break.  Initially, we were told it could be anywhere from twenty minutes to two hours to repair.  With that uncertainty, I contacted our transportation company, Cardinal Bus Line, to have them begin to organize their fleet.  It takes anywhere from thirty minutes to one hour to have all buses ready on short notice.  I appreciate our friends at Cardinal Bus Line and their ability to always help us out in a pinch, they are the best!

Shortly after the decision was made to dismiss early, it was confirmed that the water would be back up within 10–15 minutes.  Unfortunately, at this point, everything was in motion.  I recognize that this is an unexpected event, but based on the information I had at the time, a decision to dismiss early was made.  Our facilities cannot operate without running water for a long period of time, as restroom facilities would not be available. The uncertainty of when water would be restored was too up in the air at the time.

School will be in session on Thursday, January 12, 2023.  We have been notified that our Village will be under a boil order for up to 24 hours.  We will have bottled water on site for student and staff use and our meals will be prepared following proper protocols.  As I mentioned earlier, thank you for your flexibility and understanding during this unique event.  Thank you to our friends at the St. Anne Village for working hard to repair the break, your efforts are much appreciated.  We look forward to seeing our students back on Thursday!

Best wishes,

Charlie Stegall
